Ramadan Recipe | Sagoo Fritter (Handesh)

Sago is a very nostalgic ingredient i remember my mom making sago puddings for us when we were little so it still reminds me of my childhood when i have it, although this is not a pudding this is a great sweet snack 

Ingredient:

  • 200g Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls
  • 50g flacked coconut
  • 100g Sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil for frying
Method:
  1. Measure out all your ingredients and set aside
  2. In a large bowl add the Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls, add ½ cup water and mix well
  3. Add the coconut flake and sugar to the Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls and mix well,
  4. Add the rest of the water and mix well again, cover the mix and set aside for 3-5 hours
  5. Knead the mix in to a soft pliable dough
  6. Take a little bit of the mixture and squeeze it in your palm this will make it easy to roll
  7. Roll into a ball and repeat
  8. You should roughly have 20-24 balls

 

  1. In a pan heat up some oil and fry the Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls balls
  2. Make sure the oil is on a gentle heat you want to cook the Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls and  retain the original colour
  3. The Sago pearls or Tapioca pearls balls should double in size
  4. Drain into a paper towel and serve warm or cold
  5. Enjoy
